The article traces the housing history of a Sinti family from South Tyrol, shaped by institutional informal practices shifting from accomodating and inclusive measures to elusive-authoritarian modes. Informality is here decoupled from a marginal definition and reinterpreted as a fluid, relational, and discretionary modality inherent to state action itself, being used as a “sensitizing concept” to deconstruct and comprehend the governance of Sinti housing within the territory.
