Il clima politico. Corpi, frontiere e migrazione ai tempi del riscaldamento globale - The Political Climate. Bodies, Borders, and Migration in the Age of Global Warming

Abstract

The four articles included in this dossier, the result of the “CliBor – The Climate of Borders” project, explore certain intersections between contemporary environmental crises – in particular climate change –, the migration dynamics associated with them, current forms of border management, and the bodily phenomena that result from them. Moving between, on the one hand, a critical exploration of the notion of “climate migration” and an examination of the concepts of adaptation, mitigation, and vulnerability, and, on the other, two ethnographic contributions – one on the convergence of forensic dimensions and environmental instrumentalization in the central Mediterranean, the other on the bodily dimensions of Venezuelan migration to the United States – these articles collectively attempt to outline the possibility of an environmental ethnography of the body at the border.
